I-Joists can achieve long spans due to their unique combination of STEICO LVL flanges and natural hard fibreboard web which gives the joist a high load bearing capacity.
They are sometimes referred to as silent joists because when fitted correctly they do not squeak under foot as traditional timber joists can.
Our I-Beam prices tend to be more cost effective than Metalweb (Eco Joist, Posi Joists, Space Joist, Open Web) and Hollow Core Concrete.
Counter Battening is not required as services can be put through the web as would be required with Hollow Core Slabs.
Given that I-Joists are made from engineered timber products, they are not affected by the current global price rise in metal prices that the easi joist style beams are.
I-Joist are also a superior alternative for 9x2 or 9x3 timber and are similarly available off the shelf.
I-Joist can take services through holes easily made in the engineered joist without having the worry of cutting or damaging wires or pipes on a sometimes-sharp metal webbed Joist.
They are commonly uses in garage loft conversions with long spans, Flat Roofs and in conjunction with Under Floor Heating (UFH)
