Keeping it Green

Wood has stood the test of time in Ireland as an essential component in the building and finishing of commercial buildings and homes. Because it uses less energy to produce that most other building materials, wood is an environmentally friendly option that also looks good and has impressive insulating qualities.

At its most basic level timber absorbs CO2 and releases O2 so if managed responsibly it is CO2 neutral. Most of the timber sourced by Wood Concepts comes from responsibly managed forests which are PEFC or FSC® certified.

What is FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council® was established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. It sets standards and provides certification and labelling of timber products. Use of the FSC logo shows that the product comes from responsible sources.

What is PEFC?

The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) is committed to conserving forests and their invaluable biodiversity, and the communities and families that own, work, and live in and around forests. Use of the PEFC logo shows that the product comes from responsible sources.
